Sometimes I can be my own worst critic. I look at the dream board and say “Am I moving toward these dreams?”
(A better question might be “Are these still my dreams?” But that’s a subject for another time.)
When I think of it – the answer is almost always a resounding “YES!”
When I listen to Zig Ziglar, I’m getting in the right mind state to move toward my dreams.
When I diagram something on my white board – which happens multiple times a week – I’m moving closer to my dreams.
When I give a speech at Toastmasters – I’m moving closer to my dreams.
When I conduct a merit badge session at Boy Scouts - I'm moving closer to my dreams.
When I blog or write my daily gratitude list – I’m moving closer to my dreams.
When I camp out with scouts, or sit down with the family at dinner, or watch something on TV with the family while we drink homemade milkshakes - I'm living the dream.
The answer is - daily, weekly and monthly, when I review how I spent my time, I can see daily progress on the important goals, and I have tied those goals to the dream board.
What I’m not doing is moving in a straight line traditional A then B then C project management approach. As a PMP that’s a little difficult to handle. But as a human I realize that – while I’m not moving in a straight line – I am making progress toward my dreams, every day.
(I didn’t mean to imply PMPs aren’t human).
